Online Service FAQ’s

Where? Live on Facebook, streaming from Central Presbyterian Church

When? Sunday school starts at 9:30 with Pastor Randy’s Nuts and Bolts of Prayer. Worship will start at 10:30am Central Time.

Do I have to have a Facebook account to watch live? Because we have a public page, you do not have to have a Facebook account or be signed in to watch live. There may be a dialogue box that asks you to sign in when you click our link above. You can close that box or disregard it and scroll down until you find our live video. Click on the video to start watching.

Can I come? If you show up, the doors will be locked and we will not be opening them. So, no.

What about the donuts? We will not have donuts here. If you would like donuts, we hear that Krispy Kreme and Dunkin Donuts both have drive through windows. In fact, if you ask for Central’s “usual” donuts at Krispy Kreme, you will probably have enough to drop off a box with every house on your street.

What should I wear? See, here is the thing about Live Videos. You can see us, but we can’t see you. If you feel comfortable in a suit and tie, go right ahead. If you want to join in your slippers and jammies, be our guest. You can comment during the live video, but we will not be responding in realtime on Facebook.

Do I have to stand up and sit down at home? You do you. Sit, stand, kneel, walk around. We do recommend that, just like you would if you were here with us, that you give the Lord your undivided attention as much as possible.

How can I follow along with the songs and readings? If you are on our email list, you should have received an email with a link to this page for the order for worship, including all lyrics and readings. You can also find sheet music from the hymnal here, and sermon notes and homework questions will be uploaded. We recommend having another device, say a Kindle, iPad, netbook, or smartphone, with the order of worship loaded so that you can follow along easily. If you are not getting our emails and would like to, please send us one at office@centralpresb.org so we can keep you up to date.

This is weird. That’s not a question, and yes, we agree, this is weird. However, with the weirdness, we will look at this as an opportunity to reach people for Jesus.

I watched live last week and the sound was terrible. Will I be able to hear what is going on? Yes, we are now able to patch the sound board straight into our camera.

Will you do an offering time? Great question, and no, we will not have an offering. There are going to be 6 of us in the room, and that would be a little silly. If you would like to give to Central, please visit www.centralpresb.org/give or you can send a check or set up online pay through your bank for another no-contact giving option.

What other ways can we stay connected? We are talking through lots of things. Wednesday night, live from the a living room, we will host a hymn sing. We will post a link for a lyric sheet. Children and youth videos, Zoom calls, Snapchat groups, emails, etc. We think it is especially important to stay connected at a time when we are unable to be together.

How long will you do online services? It is premature to make any proclamations at this time. The beauty of our church is the fellowship and sweet spirit of all of our members. Without you here, with us physically in the building, we are missing something. But we can be united together, worshiping together, from wherever we are.

What if I miss the “live” service? The archive will still be right here on our Facebook page, uploaded to YouTube, Centralpresb.org/recent-videos, and the Central Presbyterian Church channel on RightNow Media.

What should I do with my kids? Invite them to join you in worship. Follow along with the order of worship, sing the songs together, do the reading together. If sitting still to watch the sermon is too much, feel free to kindly dismiss them into another part of your home. We are also posting videos of the weekly kids Sunday school lesson, children’s worship, confirmation class, and others. Visit our pages on YouTube, RightNow Media, or our respective children and youth Facebook pages for regular updates. We are also working on getting craft kits and color sheets as activities for kids, the sermon time might be a good time for them to work on that.

How can I make sure I get notifications from Central? Make sure to like and follow our Facebook page. And if you see a post, we would ask that you please like and share it. The more organic interactions we have, the more Facebook’s algorithms will show our content to other people.

Can I invite my friends and family? Absolutely. You can like and share our content, host a watch party, send a personal message, text or email. The beauty of this is that anyone, anywhere in the world can join us live.

What if I am lonely and would really like to talk to someone? Please message us directly, call the office, or send us an email and we would love to connect via phone, Facetime, Skype, Zoom, whatever method you would like.

Is God still in control? Not only is our sovereign God in control, but he can and will use this time in history for His glory. How exactly? It is way too premature to speculate to that end. But we read in Romans 8 that He works ALL THINGS together for the good of those who love Him, and are called according to his purposes, and also that nothing can separate us from the love of God. We believe that now more than ever. God’s love, His power, His dominion, are not ever stretched beyond His capacity. Come what may, we are in His hands.
